Cloudflare Queues vs Amazon SQS
Comparison · sqs
The webhook inbox is calculated in Queue operations. SQS rates were not copied.
Competitor dollar amounts are unverified. This page calculates Cloudflare only and links the other price list. Do not quote a vendor price from memory.
A billing provider posts 50,000 events a day. The Worker spends 4 ms checking a signature and the queue stores each event as three operations.
Queues bill 64 KB chunks of writes, reads, and deletes. A normal delivery is three operations. Price SQS with its own request definition, not with this three-operation shortcut.
Free Queues stop at 10,000 operations a day. That cap is a failure mode, not a cheap overage.
One delivered message is usually three operations
Queues bill each 64 KB written, read, or deleted. A normal delivery is a write, a read, and a delete. Paid usage includes 1 million operations and then prorates $0.40 per million. It does not use R2's round-up-to-the-million rule. Free accounts get 10,000 operations a day and 24 hours of retention.
This model
$6.40 · Paid
The $5 is an account minimum for Workers Paid, not a per-product fee. Included usage sits inside it.
4,500,000 used, 1,000,000 included. Billable: 3,500,000. Exact charge $1.40, shown as $1.40. Each 64 KB chunk of a write, read, or delete is one operation. 1 KB is 1,000 bytes, and about 100 bytes of metadata count toward the size. A normal delivery is 3 operations: write, read, and delete. Retries add more reads. The paid rate is prorated at $0.40 per million after 1 million operations. Paid retention defaults to 4 days and can be raised to 14 days.
Assumptions
